What Is EcoDiesel

If you’ve heard of the Ram 1500 and Jeep EcoDiesel models, you’re probably wondering, What Is EcoDiesel? EcoDiesel is a powertrain system that maximizes horsepower and torque while utilizing every drop of fuel from your tank. It has more environmental friendly technology that makes the most out the power and efficiency in your vehicle.

EcoDiesel Fuel And Engine

It is a fuel made up entirely out of renewable resources. Making it eco friendly and reducing 90% of the greenhouse gasses emitted compared to vehicle with typical fuel. The engine is designed to use every drop of fuel to optimize and create the best in class fuel economy.

EcoDiesel Fuel

EcoDiesel consists of fully renewable resources such as vegetable oils, used cooking oil and animal fats like Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil. It has a refining process that removes some of the issues experienced with other biofuels such as microbiological growth, long-term stability problems, water contamination and sometimes higher vehicle maintenance costs. You can use it with the EcoDiesel Engine, but you can also use it with a regular diesel engine.

The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that the transportation sector accounts for approximately 27% of all greenhouse gas emissions annually in the United States. As well as providing a reduction in greenhouse gasses, EcoDiesel also reduces the emissions coming from your exhaust.

• 3% lower levels of Fine Particulates
• 9% less Nitrogen Oxides
• 30% less Hydrocarbons
• 24% lower Carbon Monoxide Emissions
• Reduced levels of Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons

EcoDiesel Engine

EcoDiesel is a diesel engine that has been used in Ram Trucks and Jeep vehicles since 2014. The EcoDiesel engine is made out of graphite iron, aluminum twin-cam heads, added standard Active Air Grille Shutters, advanced clean diesel technology and B20 biodiesel capability.

Ram EcoDiesel

The Dodge Ram 1500 EcoDiesel comes with a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine. This engine gives over 240 horsepower and 420 pounds per foot of torque. It also has a towing capacity of over 1,600 pounds. Additionally, it has a great fuel economy of 29 mpg highway, 21 mpg city on the 4×2 model. The 4×4 model has a 27 mpg highway and 21 mpg city.

The engine is built with components that work together to ensure that the Dodge Ram can pass emissions standards testing. Such as a diesel particulate filter and a selective catalyst reduction. Ram 1500 EcoDiesel manufacturer’s estimated best 4×4 highway fuel economy and longest highway driving range with over 950 miles a single tank.

Jeep EcoDiesel

Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel comes with a 3.0-liter engine with an 8 speed automatic transmission. Which gives 260 horsepower and 442 pounds per foot of torque. The 3.0L V-6 turbocharged engine is used in both Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator while having a city mpg of 22 and a highways mpg of 29.

The engine used in the Jeep Wrangler is mostly identical to the engine used in the Ram 1500. It features a Compacted Graphite Iron Block. This CGI engine block provides impressive rigidity to lower vibrations and is structurally sound. Also, it weighs less than traditional Cast Iron blocks resulting in weight savings that help contribute to greater fuel efficiency.
