Meanwhile, it earned a five-star rating on the front-wheel and all-wheel drive variants of the 2023 Chevrolet Blazer. Despite the recalls of the Chevy Blazer, the NHTSA gave it the best possible score that a new vehicle could get after subjecting it to a series of crash tests and evaluations.

The NHTSA safety rating on the Chevy Blazer has earned a stellar score of five stars on the overall safety rating. This rating is the highest score any new vehicle could earn from the standard federal government testing. Here is an overview of the 2024 model vehicles in the New Car Assessment Program.

Chevy Blazer Frontal Crash Test Performance

The NHTSA evaluated two variants of the Chevy Blazer: front-wheel and all-wheel drive.

The Chevy Blazer safety rating is five stars overall for frontal crash performance. The frontal crash test on the driver’s side is five stars, but only four stars on the frontal passenger side for the front-wheel Chevy Blazer. On the other hand, the same results also applied to the all-wheel drive variant.

The IIHS Chevy Blazer safety rating on the small overlap front crash test is good overall for the driver and passenger sides. The front crash testing for the driver and passenger injury measures also earned a good rating. Regarding the moderate overlap front testing, the overall evaluation rating is good for the Chevy Blazer.

Chevy Blazer Side Crash Test Performance

The Chevy Blazer safety rating is also exceptional regarding the side crash testing from the NHTSA and the IIHS. The overall side crash rating is five stars from the NHTSA, wherein it scored five stars on every aspect of the side crash test, including the side barrier (for the driver and passenger side) and side pole star rating.

Meanwhile, the Chevy Blazer’s side crash test rating is good overall. It also scored good on every aspect of the side crash test, such as the structure and safety cage, driver injury measures, rear passenger injury measures, and driver and rear passenger head protection.

Additional Chevy Blazer Safety Evaluation

Additional safety evaluations were conducted on the Chevy Blazer to assess its overall safety rating during a crash.

The roof strength performance scored an overall score of good, alongside stellar head restraint and seat performance. These scores are based on the standard crash and safety evaluation from the IIHS. Chevy Safety Assist Package & Other Safety Features

In 2020, Chevrolet rolled out the Safety Assist Package technology on many of its models, including the Equinox, Trailblazer, and Blazer. This safety technology feature is also available on the Chevy Blazer, an advanced driving assistance program that has quickly become a standard in modern SUVs and cars. Despite the recent Chevy Blazer recalls, the car manufacturer is doing its best to utilize the latest technologies and improve the overall safety performance.

The Chevy Safety Assist includes the standard safety tech, such as Forward Collision Warning with pedestrian detection, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane-Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic High-Beam Headlights, and a Following Distance Indicator.

The Forward Collision Warning with the pedestrian detector is the core element in the Chevy Safety Assist tech. It works with other technology and safety features to ensure that the driver can react promptly to pedestrians, other vehicles, and other road variables. The Chevy Blazer is integrated with forward-looking cameras and sensors, which provide the driver with real-time information and give them full control throughout the driving experience.

Utilizing the safety assist technologies from the Chevy Blazer can enhance safety on the road. The sensors are intelligent enough to detect weather conditions, speed, and driving conditions to provide the most relevant data, giving the driver added confidence behind the wheel of a Chevy Blazer.
