How Reliable Are Alfa Romeo Cars?

Alfa Romeo does not have a stellar reputation regarding overall reliability. There is a fair share of Alfa Romeo recalls over the years. This list provides an overview of issues that forced the brand to ask for a recall to address those problems.

Alfa Romeo fans are excited that the brand has taken note of the reliability issues and taken drastic measures to improve the brand’s performance with new iterations. With Stelvio hitting the US market, the brand has received positive feedback. The latest JD Power Rating gives the Stelvio a 79 out of 100 overall score. It scored decent in Quality & Reliability, scoring 85 out of 100. The Driving Experience was pretty safe at 75 out of 100.

While the Stelvio did not reach the top 5 in the compact premium SUV segment in the JD Power ranking, it was unsurprising as the brand is still working on shedding its past bad reputation regarding safety and reliability.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Safety Rating – How Safe & Reliable?

The best way to assess the safety of Alfa Romeo Stelvio is with various crash test ratings from top third-party and independent organizations. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio rating is impressive as compared to other car releases from the Italian brand.

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating after it scored 97% for adult occupant protection. The SUV earned the highest score among other vehicles in the same category. In addition, there were two areas where the Stelvio excelled: extensive advanced and innovative safety features and structural efficiency due to the lightweight but rigid body.

Another reason why the Stelvio earned an impeccable safety rating is its delicate balance of driving experience and vehicle safety. One feature contributing to that is Alfa Romeo’s Integrated Braking System, which combines electronics and mechanics to reduce braking distance. In addition, the Stelvio utilizes the ‘Giorgio’ platform architecture that earned a five-star Euro NCAP rating, scoring a decent occupant protection rating.

Meanwhile, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Safety Rating from the ANCAP is equally impressive. The Stelvio launched in Australia in March 2018 and two months later in New Zealand. The ANCAP rating for the Stelvio is a five-star, with a 97% score on adult occupant protection and 84% on child occupant protection. The Safety Assist score is 60%, and the Pedestrian Protection score is 71%.

As a luxury car brand, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is equipped with standard and advanced safety features using state-of-the-art technologies. While it’s had some recalls, as mentioned above, the Stelvio is a new release from the brand, which is why you can depend that they’ve incorporated the mistakes from the past and focused on a good design that satisfies all safety and crash test standards.

In addition, the JD Power Rating is an impressive 85 out of 100 for the Quality & Reliability Assessment. Since the Stelvio released, there has been no record of recalls for the three models for the Stelvio as of this writing.
